Marvel Studios has cast Ryan Gosling as the new ‘Ghost Rider’
Ryan Gosling is officially entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the new Ghost Rider.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige blew the roof off San Diego Comic-Con by bringing Gosling out as a surprise guest to announce a standalone Ghost Rider feature film slated for 2028. Gosling will be taking over the iconic mantle of Johnny Blaze, the motorcycle-riding Spirit of Vengeance.
Key Details From the Announcement
- The Creative Team: The blockbuster will be directed by Shawn Levy, who just broke box office records with Deadpool & Wolverine. The script is being penned by Jonathan Tropper.
- How It Happened: Gosling has publicly voiced his desire to play Ghost Rider since 2022. While filming the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter movie with Shawn Levy, the duo personally mapped out a creative vision and pitched it directly to Kevin Feige, who greenlit the project.
- MCU Significance: While Nicolas Cage previously played Johnny Blaze in Sony’s mid-2000s films, this upcoming 2028 project marks the character’s official, permanent debut in a solo MCU film continuity.
